Watch "Pass Da Mic" video
You get two people who speak a different language (English and French), but share a very similar view of the culture. Both have experienced the Big city experience, they both are only miles from Big city's that people refer to despite your explanation of where you are from.
Detroit and Paris are two of the biggest names when it comes to just about Anything you talk about in life. When it comes to music, you cant have a discussion about music without including an artist from one of these areas respectively.Phileas and Kodac met via the internet in 2009, and have remained in contact over the past few years. The two finally met in 2014 when Kodac aka M80 traveled overseas to promote the international collaboration "Foreign Affair." Phileas was featured on that album and the two began a discussion of creating a project together. With the assistance of musical genius AstroNote, the two were given a musical landscape to cultivate.
The first video "Pass The Mic" shows the transition of how Hip Hop took on many forms and has touched many from parts of the world, not to mention multiple generation. The album "Sky High" touches on day to day life topics that many face. The album is being given as a reminder that every day you are blessed to look up and see the sky, high above, be thankful and be the best you that you can be. The sky is one of the greatest creations known to man kind. It can never be recreated by man and regardless of how full of ourselves we get, the sky above always has the last words.
We have decided to give this project to the people of the world for #FREE. Add this to your playlist as an option to share the possibilities of what a thought or an idea can become. Never before has there been a collaborative effort on an album such as this, featuring two languages with two lyrical wordsmiths.
In a world full of music, it is always refreshing to hear something different. Combine the quality of the beats, with the balance of English and French, add some soulful melodies, to accompany the variation of vocal range and you have the perfect combination for an album that sparks thought and gets you up out of you seat." Perfect time as summer is just about to start. This album has the potential to inspire interested minds about the culture of Hip Hop worldwide and its effect on other cultures.
Phileas Flow and Kodac aka M80 have managed to merged the culture of Hip Hop to include listeners world wide. Interesting thing is when the listening sessions were held, those in France already speak English in French so their experience with the album was dual purposed. While in America, although many don't speak French or even know that there are French people of African decent, some were discouraged by not being able to comprehend the French aspect of the album, while others toke it as a challenge to learn French or be ignited to travel to another country. The possibilities and opportunities to have a positive impact through the creative arts has limitless ideas to explore and share.
"Sky High" displays the power of the Hip Hop and the internet. Two individuals with a common goal are capable of accomplishing much more together than they would individually. We encourage the creative thinkers and creative artists of generations to come to let the "Sky High" be your limits as to what you can do creatively. Society has a way of making people think that they have to sound like the popular sound at the time. Phileas Flow and Kodac aka M80 have managed to create something that will transcend fads, current trends, and be a refreshing to sound to listeners ears for years to come.
We thank all of those who contributed to the album and we appreciate anyone who takes this album and shares it with friends, family and music lovers around the world.
